- yeah my sense agrees with this article: that it's misunderstood and dismissed as supernatural, "metaphysical" (I hate using that term like that... (man I should do a disambiguation [[Metaphysical - disambiguation]]))
- and to naturalize it, make it not so spooky, I think isn't hard
- Two parts:
- There's the common biology/physiology. our common genetic heritage. which isn't tabula rasa. Contains instincts, no fucking doubt. On some level, we're predisposed to adopt language about and fear of creepy crawly things.
- There's the zeitgeist. The memetic universe in which we all commonly live. Different subcultures there, certainly, and they are more or less in contact with other parts, but there's nothing supernatural about this idea
